OK I admit it - I signed up for Twitter and did not really know why.... but I am slowly starting to see the worth of it.

Facebook is viewed by some as somewhat too revealing. I have individuals who have requested me to be mates on Facebook who blank me when I see them in the veg aisle within the Co-Op. If I let you be my buddy you can, at your leisure, see each picture that I actually have posted of me on holiday, at a party, marriage ceremony reception - anywhere. I find this all a bit too much and somewhat disturbing. If I got here home and located someone in my front room that I vaguely knew who had spread out all of my picture albums on the ground and was poring over them I don't assume I would discover it acceptable if they said "...but I thought we had been friends."
Twitter is a de-cluttered version of Facebook and MySpace with out all the intrusive bits. The messages on Twitter or "tweets" are very brief (160 characters together with spaces) as they are designed to be obtained as SMS textual content messages.
You can follow someone on Twitter or be a follower. If you need to follow celebrities then it is simple to follow someone like Jimmy Carr and obtain all their tweets.
