I know some people who started with a personal blog and after a couple years practice moved on to make hundreds of thousands from professional blogs. One important thing to understand about blogging is you will be expected to be outputting information on a constant basis and the only way to have the knowledge to write on a consistent basis is if you are taking in even more information.
